The Quilt Shop hard at work
(Left to Right) My sister Nancy, I'm in the center (Mary) and my Mom
Quilting the old fashion way is the only way we know. My mother tells me that I am a sixth generation quilter in our family. When I was growing up quilts were a necessity just to keep us warm at night. As a little girl I started sewing making doll clothes while the older members of the family made quilts. I graduated from doll clothes to piecing quilt stars and now 50+ years later I am still sewing quilts with my sister and mother. Of all the Crafts I make, quilts are my favorite due to the history and the fact it is becoming a lost art. The Quilting frame we are working on in the above picture was built by my grandfather about 40+ years ago.
We are a very small business located in James Island, South Carolina. Our goal is to produce a quality product we can sell at a resonable price, whether it came from a recycled item or locally purchased material or wood.
We have been in business since eary 2007. Presently we belong to the Folly Beach Arts and Craft Guild and the Island Crafters Guild. We do many Craft shows and Festivals sponsored by other Guilds plus fund raisers.
For years we made special order items for family and friends or to use as gifts. Since everyone seemed to enjoy them so much, we decided to start a small craft business to reach a larger customer base. We really enjoy doing craft shows and meeting people and now we are reaching out across the Web. My husband is the one who wanted to get a Web Site, so if there is any problems with it I can blame him....

All of our items are one of a kind and hand crafted. The paints we use are non-toxic acrylic craft paints made in the USA and a premium enamel also made in the USA. The clear coat is a clear oil base polyurethane. Our wood items start out as free-hand drawings (no patterns except the ones we draw) and the fabric items materialize from my mind's eye (usually determined by the color or type of fabric). Our wooden toys are designed to be desirable, safe and sturdy enough to be handed down to the next generation.
All of our paints and coatings have been tested by a third party CPSIA certified Lab.
On our toy page we have a small toy (Item # T0001) that has been tested for children under the age of 36 months. IT has passed the 16 CFL 1501 Small Parts Test and is approved for children under three years of age.
We hope you enjoy our items and gifts as much as we enjoy making and building them.
If you need more information, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
